The Complete Guide to Airstream Event Trailer Hire

Written by Gary Parker | Jan 16, 2025 11:39:00 AM

Beloved by Hollywood stars on and off camera, the vintage Airstream stands for freedom, glamour and style. And with a ‘silver bullet’ design, it’s a popular way for modern brands to get attention, but how do you know if it's right for your campaign?

This guide looks at the benefits of Airstream trailer hire, customisation options, and runs through previous projects so you can get inspired.

Why should I hire a branded Airstream?

Here’s why Airstream event trailers have become big with global brands looking to expand their reach.

An engaging shape and size

Standing at 2.5 metres high and available in lengths from 5.5 to 7.5 metres long, Airstreams provide room for staff and guests to move around comfortably.

The curved frame creates visual interest, and it’s easily branded with logos, imagery and creative patterns. When closed, an Airstream trailer is much like a gift box; something Yankee Candle was happy to play on with its festive design!

A blend of function and style

Most event trailers focus on practicality, while classic vehicles put style first. Airstreams provide the best of both worlds, allowing you to fill the space with stock, furniture, and 3D props. This makes it easy to move items between locations, all from a trailer that’s gorgeous to look at.

A spacious and immersive interior

With plenty of space and no front cab to worry about, Airstream hire lets your creativity run wild. You could build a display along the back wall, lay a sofa or counter on the front wheel arch, and install a photo-op at the end of the vehicle – the options are endless!

Glow-Worm’s ‘Mystery Trip’ Airstream had an interactive area and coffee station, while the NARS & Sephora branded Airstream (seen below) featured rose gold decorations, a product display wall and spin-the-wheel game.

A potentially green option

Want to make your campaign better for the environment? We can install lithium batteries to power your trailer. While not ideal for high-energy activities like coffee sampling, it suits ‘experiential’ campaigns with immersive spaces. Your Airstream can be green in other ways like Newbie’s pop-up shop, decorated with non-PVC materials.

What do I need to consider with Airstream hire?

An Airstream event trailer will get your brand noticed. This can lead to high footfall, but you may have challenges to overcome if you’re to maximise your campaign’s success.

On-board engagement

Are you bringing people on board the Airstream for a unique experience? The more valuable the experience, the more people will likely attend. This means you’ll need to think about the trailer’s layout, along with campaign support staff like ambassadors and security to manage the crowds when your event takes off.

If you’re going for guest immersion, you likely have a vision in mind. This is where our vehicle design and build service can transform your Airstream, with all fixtures, storage, lighting and props managed by our in-house team.

Logistics and locations

Your Airstream needs towing between venues, and that fits neatly into our logistics service. We’ll plan the route and drive your trailer to each location, set up for the day, and manage all logistics as part of the package.

In terms of location, we suggest looking for venues with a footprint of 10 x 8 metres where possible. You should also watch out for tight corners, bollards and other restrictions. For the best locations, ask these 7 questions before you book.

Driving traffic in person and online

An Airstream is more than just a trailer – it’s a statement piece. To make the most of its design, plan how you’ll generate buzz before the live date. Whether it’s through teaser campaigns on social media or sneak peeks on your website, building anticipation is key.

Want to take it further? Try a pre-launch photoshoot in a live studio environment. If you need a photographer/videographer on site, we can send an expert to capture your Airstream hire in action, along with your campaign’s memorable moments.

Which types of Airstream can I hire?

At Promohire, we have several Airstreams to choose from.

Full gullwing

Up to 7.5 metres long and with a full gullwing door that opens upwards, this is the most popular Airstream in our fleet and the one we’d typically recommend for guest walkthroughs. Highly customisable, it’s perfect for most retail activations.

Popular with beauty brands like NARS, VIEVE and SHEIN, this Airstream trailer has also been used by the likes of Samsung and Yankee Candle.

Half gullwing

Our half gullwing Airstream hire is around 6.5 metres long, so there’s plenty of room to play with. In fact, the lack of a full-length hatch means there’s more privacy and the front wall can be customised further. Guests get a cosy space, great for private chats.

Disney, Hush, and Fenty Beauty have all used this Airstream event trailer to spread awareness, while Panasonic created a private 'pamper parlour' oasis (seen above) to encourage people to take better care of themselves.

Catering

The smallest model is around 5.5 metres long, and while there’s room for staff and quiet one-to-ones, it often works best as a catering or sampling vehicle. Despite its size, it can still be fitted with bold visuals, internal shelving, deep chest freezers, and 3D props.

The leading skincare brand Sol de Janeiro used this catering Airstream trailer to give out more than 10,000 ice lollies, creating a positive vibe around the brand.

How Airstreams helped brands succeed

See how brands have used these custom event trailers in their live campaigns.

QV Skincare – A full-length Airstream helped QV connect with UK audiences all the way from Australia. Their event trailer featured sinks so guests could try skincare products for themselves, then take sample bags away. It also had informative posters placed on the back wall so people could learn more.

Aveeno – This skincare company wanted to put its oat-based products in customer’s hands. So, they partnered with us for a trailer that would be part demo lab, part shop window. The hatch was made into a product display wall, but in an unusual move for a catering Airstream, people were then invited on board to watch live demonstrations.

Hush – As a laid-back women’s clothing brand, Hush wanted to meet as many people as possible from a vintage vehicle. Our half-gullwing Airstream trailer proved just the ticket! With a clothes rack, neon sign and seating area, complemented with outside deck chairs, it empowered Hush to forge connections and encourage newsletter sign-ups.
